Karen Thastum
Karen Thastum works with “pictures of memory” in various media styles. The site of the installation- a planetarium, a church, an old ruin – is her base of inspiration. By the use of slides, film and video projected onto surfaces and walls, bodies as installation and new music and sound Karen Thastums work is crossing borderlines between artforms. Karen also works as a composer and she created several Art videos, among them the prize-winning videos City poem and Imago. In 1989 she started the media art group TURA-YA-MOYA (Berlin / Copenhagen) that works with experimental music and site-specific installations. Among others: Mønsted Kalkkgruber (DK), Zeiss Großplanetarium (D), The Nordic embassies-Berlin (D) and Spøttrup Castle (DK). Since 1990 Karen lives and works in Berlin.
